Automated Refraction
- A piece of equipment that calculates baseline vision correction values
- Starting point for subjective refraction tests “which looks better, a or b”
- Also provides measurements for corneal curvature, corneal thickness and intraocular pressures
Retinal Imaging
- Optos retinal camera for ultra-widefield imaging
- Enables optometrist to discover, document, diagnose, and treat ocular pathology that may first present itself in the periphery
- Included in all adult comprehensive eye exams
Visual Field Testing
- Determines the area each eye is able to see when focused on a central point
- A way to determine if vision loss is present, and if so, to what extent over time.
- Can identify blind spots and help to determine underlying cause
- Common testing for Glaucoma, able to monitor the progression of peripheral (side) vision loss
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Non-invasive imaging technology used for cross-sectional images of the retina
- Can see the layers of the back of the eye (retina) and determine the thickness and health of the layers
- Used for early detection and diagnosis of retinal conditions and disease
